Serological Survey of Infectious Bronchitis Virus in Chickens in Sokoto State Nigeria

In the present study, blood samples were collected from 400 chickens and sera harvested for serology using an IgG based indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). This research aimed at determining prevalence of antibodies to infectious bronchitis virus in sokoto state Nigeria. The selected areas each four Agricultural zones Sokoto State. overall sero-prevalence obtained was 346 (86.50%). viral indigenous exotic 88.72% 84.39% respectively, chi square showed no significant relationship between two groups, value 1.603 P 0.205 (>0.05%). young adult sampled, 89.50% 82.87% age groups with 3.179 0.038 (<0.05), binary logistic regression association P= 0.09 (>0.05). result male female tested 86.88% 86.17% positives respectively showing slightly higher males than females statistical square, 0,043 0.836 study has provided update on IBV It concluded that there high sampled General survey entire region where belongs (Northwestern Nigeria) or country as a whole is recommended, so have clearer picture IB Veterinarians probably consider vaccination mean prevention disease, vaccine be produced local strains
